Hi,
Based in the UK here. Looking for a radio studio "presenter" mic for use
at our community station.
I've suggested Rode NT1A and AT2020. Other suggestions are AKGC3000B.
Never liked the C1000 (Live everybody else). How does the 3000 compare?
Any other suggestions in the same price zone?

I'd pick an RE-16 over any of these.

It's not as nasty, but it's still very nasty.

If you have amateurs who can't stay on-mike and have technique problems,
either go with an omni or a variable-D design like an RE-16.

The re-16 is very rare over here. Virtually unavailable, and then at £250/$400 which is
un-reachable. As you mention, keeping on mic with this one would be a challenge.
I would prefer a wider pattern. Used an omni last year which worked very well except for
the noise coming in from outside the studio. The studio window was open most of the time
as it was over 30C in there which is enough to kill us Scots! Thanks for the suggestion, but
this one would not be suitable for us Scott.
Definately will keep away from the C3000... Would love an RE20 but no budget here!

Darn, Forgot about that one. Nice thought. I've seen that video many times
too, but somehow I forgot the mic. I can get it over here for about £120/$160 or
so with the 8137 which is fine for our budget.
Thanks Ty.

Look for an RE16 on ebay. Or an RE11, or an RE15 or RE10 with a foam pop
filter. They show up fairly frequently.
Peace,
Paul
