The correct spelling is "La Marseillaise".
This is an awful, hateful song, I perfectly imagine in Oily "Boon"
Target's big jelly mouth.
My prefered version has been registered in Kingston (Jamaïca) in 1980 by
a Jewish Russian immigrant, Serge Gainsbourg (RIP). Obviously Sly &
Robbie was part of the joke.
At the end of is life he had recorded , 3 LP with US musicians in NYC.
Among is huge production (1957 - 1989) you can find jewels which I'm
afraid have never crossed atlantic ocean. But... Without any order :
* Le poiçonneur des lilas
* Interesting jazz LPs with Elek Bacsik.
* Harley Davison with Brigitte Bardot
* Constipation blues with Screamin' Jay Hawkins
* Je t'aime moi non plus, which has been forbidden in you nice country.
It's also a very nice movie.
* Histoire de Melody Nelson (nota : if you have a good stereo you will
love this one and the following one)
* L'homme à la tête de choux. Do you like Francis Bacon ? :
http://www.francis-bacon.cx/1976_77.html.
* Aux armes etc. (the one with Marseillaise)
* Love on the beat (NYC recording)
My pôôr little George, you're so unfruitful, useless and pathetic that I
cannot avoid myself to rescue you.
George, my sweet little guinea-pig, let me give you an advice.
You love to make phrases and joke, OK, but I'm sure you would increase
your efficacy with a little bit more self-derision.
....This is an other good reason for you to have a look to the above
french singer. He is the best teacher I know.
