Given your performance on RAO surf, please stay away from
dangerous places. A cliff might jump out from the side of
the road and hurt you.

This time of year, cyclists thoughts turn to the Tour de France (TdF).
Here are two pieces of TdF lore:
>
In 1975, Belgian rider Eddy Merckx is in the lead and on his way to a
record breaking sixth TdF victory when he is punched hard in the
kidney/liver/stomach (accounts vary on this) by a French fan who cannot
bear to see a Belgian break a record originally set by a Frenchman.
Although Merckx finished the TdF, he never fully recovered from the
blow and failed to win a sixth TdF.

***Lesson: riding in front of a hostile crowd can be hazardous.
>
In 1985, French rider Bernard Hinault was on his way to his fifth TdF
win when he crashed and broke his nose. Unable to breathe well, Hinault
slowed considerably in the following days, but still won the TdF with
the help of his American team mate, Greg LeMond.
>
***Lesson: you can ride with a broken nose if some one helps you along.

So, enjoy the ride. Bring a camera and post some pictures. Do try to
avoid hard punches to the mid-section and broken noses. And bring some
team mates, just in case.

I think you're mistaken, Sam. Richie doesn't know how to ride a bike, he
just lubes the chain. And I'm sure he had to lube something else too to get
that original Krueger he's been showing around.

Speaking of Le Tour, Lionel, I see it has been 20 years since a French
rider finished with the Yellow Jersey. In the past 19 Tours, there have
been 9 wins by Americans, 6 by Spaniards and one each by an Irishman, a
Dane, a German and an Italian. Are there any up and coming French
riders to give the faithful hope?

BTW, who is your pick for this Tour?

He did that? I wasn't aware of that.
Anyway, it doesn't change my thoughts about him fighting a potentially
deadly disease and come out of it as a winner.

Arny, by most accounts, the private Lance Armstrong is not a pleasant
person to be around. That said, apparently it was Mrs. Armstrong who
wanted the divorce. She grew tired of the demands of the lifestyle of a
high level pro cyclist (constant travel, living in Europe much of the
time, etc.)

That is a wonderful story, Sander. Interestingly, Armstrong's ordeal
may have made him a better rider by raising his pain threshold and
putting the suffering of climbing a big mountain in perspective
(Armstrong himself has suggested this). Prior to his illness, Armstrong
was a good, not great, cyclist. He won a few stages in the TdF, but
only finished once, in 36th place. After the illness, he was a
different rider. IMO, not quite at the level of Merckx, or even
Hinault, but dominant in his era.

Agreed. I also marvel at the way Greg Lemond came back from very nearly
fatal shotgun wounds to the chest to win two more Tours.

It's not a big problem for me since I am a fan of Tour de
France and not fan of riders.
Moreover I like Lance since he won Worldchampionship in '93.
At this time he was already an atypique rider with an
atypique morphology but already a face of winner/leader.
Armstrong has brought a lot to cyclism sport in term of
training, effort management and technic.
He is *the* real grand champion, leader, gentleman who
deserve all his victories.
Concerning French riders in the end '80 a guy named
Jean-François Bernard was a potential winner but... he
wasted his career.
> BTW, who is your pick for this Tour?
Lance for an other one...
I just hope others will attack him seriously this time. ;-)

Who else would you give your time to? LOL!
Your failure to answer a direct question noted, BTW. Or is the answer too
painful to face? I'm sure it is a lot easier to point fingers at Lance
Armstrong without knowing the facts.

Thank you Dave for answering directly to my mail and to give me
opportunity to put you a question which cannot be put on RAO.
Please excuse my "on-the-limits" curiosity but I am new reader on RAO
and I don't understand all subtility of the numerous exchanges
concerning Arny Krueger. The question is :
I am only interested in reading experiences concerning audio. From a
purely technical point of view Mr Krueger has a knowledge and
experience. When he limits his answers to technical statements some of
his opinion are interesting, some of his ideas find naturally place on
this forum.
Where is the bad, pervert point ?
From a newbie point of view, when you go deep for the first time in
RAO
you are totaly astonished by the mix of interesting threads and the
incredibily violent ones. I could accept/understand that when the
discussion goes to politic, religion or other very hot and difficult
subjects, but audio...?
Feel free to answer, no offense anyway.
One thing last, please accept my excuses for playing policeman in a
game
I'm not sure to understand.
Sincerely,
Lionel

You know you've scored a direct hit on a 'borg when it tries to laugh off the
entire point you made.
Krooger has used this lame dodge so many times that it's now completely lifeless
and inert.
It's a fact that dave caught you in an embarrassing U-turn. You can't dispute
how foolish you look, so instead you try to diminish dave's ability to produce
evidence to support his point. How pathetic.
Cue Thing to make a feeble attempt to smear dave, me, or Tom.

Never send me any email.
How's that?

You know, this really makes me wonder: I've had no problems with
anyone on RAO that extend beyond the realm of usenet.
I live too far away from you all, is that it? :-)

Sander, you seem to be a genuinely good guy. But I have to ask: what
did you think when some RAOers were filing false police reports against
Arny Krueger? (And liking or not liking Arny is not a factor here.)
Didn't that "extend beyond the realm of usenet"?

It sure does.
I wasn't reading RAO at that time, so I haven't exactly witnessed what
happened, but things like that are beyond my understanding.
So is flinging around accusations of pedophilia, by either "side" .
But as you can read above, I just stated that * I myself * never had
such problems.

Well, life in my little corner of the world passes slowly and
relatively smooth. I like it that way.
George once called me a "city slicker" (in jest), nothing could be
farther from the truth though. I loathe dense crowds.

The story is very simple. Weil sent me a private Email because I've told him
*on* RAO that his behaviour wasn't fairplay.
In this email he was accusing Arnold Krueger of being a trouble maker. The
Email from me he as quoting was my answer to this private exchange.
Conclusion : Dave Weil is a son of bitch. :-(

Unlike you, Sackman *I* haven't any mentor.
Note that I not really surprised that such "private archive" doesn't
disturb you. I guess that on this point Weil is agree with you and McKelvy.

Was it the usual homophobia? The shopworn "Bwian did it but let's blame
George" dodge? The petulant name-calling he usually saves for Tom?
Oh, never mind. Euthanasia is the indicated solution for these twerps.

"Thank you Dave for answering directly to my mail"

You are a LIAR and I prove it. The mail you have quoted was
an answer to an *unsollicited* private Email that you sent me :
----------------------------------------------------------------
"Lionel,
All you have to do is do a google search for Arnold Krueger
and read some of his postings.
If you think that Arnold is a benign force on RAO, you're
sadly mistaken. But, I'll tell you what I tell all other
newbies on this forum. Stick around long enough and Arnold
will turn on you as well.
All you have to do is disagree with him.
Oh yeah, don't profess a love for vinyl LPs or analog,
because he will get nasty with you.
I could give you countless examples but I don't have time.
Just look at Schizoid Man's recent adventures with him.
Take care,
dave

George "Idiot" Middius :
> It's a fact that dave caught you in an embarrassing U-turn.
I am not embarrassed.
Read carefully the content of the message this ******* has
disclosed... IMHO there's nothing capable of embarrasse me.
If your point is why I look so angry and vendicative it's
just because this *hypocrite* son of bitch uses his status
of "nice guy" and his easy english to take an advantage on
me. Between you and me according to your criteria it is a
typical Borg's "debating trade" behaviour.
NB : I have read once an interesting theory from you about
explaining why Arnold Krueger had revealed some of his
family details, mourning and desasters. Do you remember that
? So IMHO this theory is fully applicable to Weil's
behaviour on RAO.
Yes George be honest with yourself for once... you get it
now. :-(
> You can't dispute
> how foolish you look, so instead you try to diminish dave's ability to produce

George I have proved that Weil was lying. The fact you
cannot believe me or not is not really my problem. ;-)
BTW since in disclosing content of private exchanges he is
just using a stratagem that *you* have also used many time,
I am not surprise that you think it is a *Normal* <LOL>
behaviour.
Between you and me you are the more pathetic in this thread.
Pathetic and not really intelligent... it would have been
more prudent for you to shut up on *this* particular point.

There seems to be nothing "sincere" about you. You attack me to "teach
me a lesson" about holding a couple of people who post on this NG
accountable for their words and actions. And you do it in the most
unseemly fashion.
Your apology rings hollow considering how many times a day you DO
mistreat it.

Exactly. Which is why I posted it.
What DOES embarass you (or should) is the level that you have sunk to
since you wrote those very words. You have BECOME what you were
perplexed about and concerned about regarding RAO.
I think THAT'S why you're blowing a fuse at the moment. The truth
hurts. That's the difference between you and Arnold though - I suspect
that you have more self-awareness and you're feeling the pain. He, on
the other hand, is oblivious.
Perhaps you'll have an epiphany, but I doubt it.

Then how am *I* supposed to know that? I was just going by what YOU
said. Most people are referring to email when when they say mail. I
assumed that you were too.
The post may have been unsolicited, but it was welcomed by you. You
thanked me for contacting you. That is different than someone grousing
on the newsgroup about a mistakenly sent post to their email instead
of RAO. Many people do that by accident on occasion. I have never
threatened anyone for such an inadvertent send, considering that I do
it a couple of times a year, as ScottW has already attested to.
BTW, let's remember why I gave you a formal (not final) warning. You
were sending me email through a third party. You were starting to get
nasty privately, and I asked you to stop sending me mail. You didn't,
so I gave you a formal warning.
I note that you left all of that out of your account.

Glad to see you approve of taking Usenet squabbles into the real world.
I wonder why, in light of this antisocial behavior of yours, you lied
earlier about things I did not do. You lied about something I never did to
Ferstler, while conveniently overlooking the *****fact***** that he did, in
FACT, commit plagiarism. You lied about something I never did to Krooger
while overlooking that Krooger did, in FACT, claim to have illegal child
pornography in his possession. You conveniently overlooked Krooger's
ridiculous accusations that the supposed pornography was "sent" to him by
several Normals. Why didn't you complain about Krooger's false allegations
of criminal behavior, Thing? Don't you know it's a crime?
Also, you lied about something I did not do to Phoebe Johnston while
conveniently overlooking the FACT that the harassment in question was in
FACT perpetrated by Bwian McDog****. Why don't you complain about what Bwian
did to Phoebe, Thing?
> Feel free to waste a phone call or flowers. It's your credit card. I'm

Thing is a wuss and a **** of the first order. One second the little bitch
is complaining about well-deserved criticism directed at his fellow
travelers in dishonesty, and the next he's suggesting ways to harass
Normals. All because he lost a few battles of wits on Usenet.
Thing's stupidity is actually blessing for us. He's incapable of figuring
out my ebay ID or where you work. What a useless **** he is. He's also too
stupid to cover his own tracks. We know about all his phoney Usenet IDs, and
Tom Albertz found his slime trail in Arkansas. If any harassment does befall
a Normal because of Thing's machinations, we know exactly which law
enforcement agency to contact.

That's an almost 3 year old post, isn't it?
Of course, in those days, there were several restaurants that offered
live jazz 7 days a week.
I think that there are three in Nashville right now.
You seem fixated on old stuff. But feel free to spend some of your
bicycle earnings on a long distance call if you'd like. Or send them

That was three years ago. What does that have to do with a very
limited listing of Nashville restaurants? What does that have to do
with now?
Besides, that list was just a list of 10 out of 500 restaurants in
Nashville, at least three of which currently offers free jazz live
music 7 nights a week. In fact, there were at least two other
restaurants at that time that also offered the same thing, only they
aren't open anymore.

So, you feel it's necessary to out what you think is my workplace so
that that restaurant can get bogus reservations or nasty phone calls
(wouldn't be a big deal to send flowers as someone did to trotsky,
since restaurants LOVE free flowers)? You tried to get me to reveal it
privately as well, and I didn't then either.
Apparently, YOU don't mind doing "not very nice things" yourself.
>Even Sander felt it to be out of bounds.
Perhaps. However, I think it's funny that not only did I not expose
any "personal information", the post that I reproduced showed a softer
and more reasonable side to Lionel and I find it odd that people would
object to it. Maybe it's because it shows how far he's sunk that
people object to. Maybe Lionel doesn't want people to know what a
teddybear he is.

It's a simple scam for anyone with a taste for child porno
perhaps such as you to implement George. eMail someone some
child porno pix and then accuse them of storing them on
their hard drive, knowing full well that is how most email
programs work.

This is exactly the case. This hypocrite ******* sent me

Weil just follows in the footsteps of Middius like a nice
little boy. I'm humbled and amazed by the effort that the
Middius clique, Weil in particular, and Middius himself have
put into slandering me. Middius has clearly dominated over
Weil's mind and personality.

I don't think so.
Weil's problem is that he is the only one to continue to
believe that he could have been a star.
A kind of incredible mixture of naive teenager's mythomania
and boring single oldster attitude.

These POVs are not incompatible. dave *is* a legend in his own mind,
but he also "follows in the footsteps of Middius like a nice little
boy" because he doesn't want to incur an RAO lashing from Middius. In
this sense "Middius has dominated over Weil's mind and personality".

Don't ask him too much... Weil does desperate effort to stay
"politically correct" but he is not an hero... ;-)
Most of the time when Middius starts his outrageous
disgusting refrain Weil acts like a coward Pontius Pilate.
OTOH he never miss an occasion to play the outraged virgin
when Krueger cross the line.

I see. The two of you can "psychoanalyze" and it's OK but when others
do it, they're "idiots".
And, anyone who knows the history between Middius and me knows that

Just recently, you were claiming the opposite - that I was posting to

I find it funy that I'm one of the only people that Arnold is afraid

>BTW I don't understand the difference to have your name in the header of a

Ask yourself about the effect that it might have for someone who comes

regardiing all of the Arnold posts.
Frankly, it doesn't affect me any at all, but I'm free to comment on

Who's complaining? I'm not. I'm noting your behavior. You've started
several derogatory threads about me in the past couple of days alone.

Oh, bull****. First of all, most times I don't "provoke" these
discussions. For instance, you started this latest round by mentioning
me gratuitously. Second of all, people should be able to discuss
matters freely, even if they're being trolled by people like you.
You're mad at me for taking on Howard Ferstler for example. And yet,
it's because I have the nerve to actually call him on some of the
outrageous statements that he makes.

But you are right I have noted that *very* recently you have changed your
mind and that you don't harass him anymore. this is why you are dying of
frustration.

You are wrong on this point Dave.
Arnold is a very charitable guy who has had the courage to make you the
handout of the conversation every morning during years.
You cannot imagine how boring you are, Dave. Boring and ingrate because you
have never given him a sign of gratitude for his devotion.

You are lying again Dave.
Last time I have reported to McKelvy what have been your attitude toward me
when I had a problem with a bull**** newsreader.
You have confirmed my point in posting the text of your threat.
I have tried several time to discuss with you and with the best intention
believe me. Except in very rare occasions or in very short exchange
everytime you have bizarrely tried to take advantage on me in a very pueril
way. Remenber French beers, remember the accordion... I have tried several
time to be correct with you first because you know about music, beers,
wines, knives... things that also interest me but watch you are not
interested in exchanging you are just interested in wining debate.
Frankly Dave it is not possible to *discuss* with you.

I fully agree with you.

Dave listen me : I NEVER read what Howard Ferstler uses to write. NEVER.
Nothing bores me more than those endless discussions between objectivists
and subjectivists. I'm just looking for your name and see if I can find a
little occasion to troll you. ;-)
Between me and you if I don't troll Ferstler also is just because I would
find this too much easy and boring. Too much people on the same game and I
am non a dog of pack.
BTW I'm a not a specialist of audio and my knowledge is more than
limited.... and ironically per taste I think I am more subjectivist than
objectivist. *Everytime* you will see me taking part to one of those
discussions it will be for trolling purpose only.
So I stop here because in the end I risk to be more boring than you.
Yes, yes, I know that with my crippling English it will be difficult but
possible. :-D

George I have publicly proved that concerning this point you are a liar.
I quote a thread in which there was Trotsky name with your and mine. I

Hardly. I haven't read very much of his stuff, AND, he seems to not be

This whole thing started a few days back when you gratuitiously
mentioned me. I hadn't bothered with you for several weeks before
that. You brought it on with your trolling, so you only have yourself
to blame. How's the mirror these days?
>I have tried several time to discuss with you and with the best intention

Only at the beginning, and the reason that I wrote you privately was
to show good faith. It didn't take long before you were obsessively
dogging every little step that I made here on RAO, and frankly, my
good faith was betrayed by your own bad faith. That's why I had no
problem with posting private correspondence from you to show how far
you've sunk, Mr. Mirror Man.
> Except in very rare occasions or in very short exchange

Bull****. I remember casually mentioning an accordion for instance,
which made you go ballistic, and caused a couple of weeks of
nastiness. You take issue with almost EVERY thing I write, and
because, you want to "teach me a lesson", I have to put with with all
sorts of semantic nightmares from you. It's YOU who takes advantage of
me, because, as Sander notes, you want to "take a mirror to RAO". And
this is something that you freely admit.
>Remenber French beers,
I'm sorry that you are defensive about it. I'm speaking the truth

Absolutely. That's my point, little fly.

That's fine. I discuss things with him because I think it's important
not to let statements from him go by, WHEN I THINK HE'S WRONG. I
rarely troll him just to troll him, as you do me.

Oh, I know that. So how is this "taking a mirror to RAO"? It's not.
You're in the game, as I said. There's no big philosophical issue that
you have with the state of RAO - you've simply found a home here and
you're being hypocritical if you claim otherwise, which is why I think
that Sander is wrong in his mirror statement.

You are a liar Dave let me quote you once again :
"BTW, I happen to like a good European-sounding accordian,
especially those cool sounding minor key French things or
moody tango things, although I can see how you might be sick
of it, since it's everywhere you turn. Of course, I like
Vanessa Paradis too, so I guess my tastes
can be questioned.
Oh yeah, They Might Be Giants use an accordian to good
effect, as do Cajun musicians. These are probably too much
fun for you to enjoy though, being the SERIOUS jazz guy that
you are."
The last sentence of the is obviously sarcastic and clearly
shows an intention of trolling.

Unlike some of us on RAO, he never resorts to gratuitous insults and he always

You too?
Maybe you should give some examples of dave's gratuitous insults. I missed all
of them. Please note the word "gratuitous" and don't ignore it. The reason I
said "gratuitous insults" is because I meant "gratuitous insults". I did not say
"any insults" because I did not mean "any insults". There is a difference
between "gratuitous" and "any". I do agree that dave sometimes utters insults,
but I also contend they are never gratuitous.
If you're following this far, I'm sure you're about to start yapping about
"hairsplitting". And one other thing: dave has put up with a lot more of your
asinine braying than he should have. He's coddled you and pandered to you and
ignored your rudeness most of the time. The few insults he's given you were
always well-deserved and never gratuitous.
But maybe you can show me where I'm wrong. Produce a few of dave's gratuitous
(not contextual and not retaliatory) insults.

YOU made the claim George. I say your full of bs, yet somehow in this
twisted world everyone has to prove your full of bs while you wander
about waving a free pass. Well not this time.
You want to claim Dave is a saint and has never uttered a gratuitous
insult, the burden of proof is yours. Without it... your mutterings are
just so much wasted bandwidth.

OSAF.... you used to speak in similar terms of that lunatic Trots. Not
that I would put Dave and trots in the same bin...but your arguement is
repetitive.
>

Why not for just once in this world you prove your right instead of
someone having to prove your wrong?
You made the claim... I call BS... Well, it's your claim and if you
want to refute my call, the burden of proof is yours no matter how hard
you want spin it.
Jeez, you think any asshole can sit at their keyboard spouting anything
with impunity and the rest of group has the responsibility of proof to
refute the bs. If that's the way it works in your world then I finally
understand how you got to be so ****ed up.

I happen to disagree. That's largely because you're a flaming idiot, but more to
the point, because you're wrong.
There is no "burden of proof" in a matter of opinion. I have seen a great many
of dave's exchanges with you, with Slut, with the Krooborg, with the
Ferstlerian, and with others. It is my opinion, based on the substantial amount
of evidence I've seen, that his insults are not gratuitous.
You haven't even bothered to say you disagree. You seem simply to be arguing
without making a point. All you've said is that I haven't proved my statement.
Here's a newsflash: It's an opinion and not subject to proof.
However, you could show that I'm wrong. Do you think I'm wrong?

Apparently you have no evidence to support your allegation about dave's
bragging. I got the same wounded baying from Scottiedork. Coincidentally, dave
has dealt with the two of you in a way similar to his method with Harold: By
clobbering you with straightforward logic. You were both hoping dave would melt
down like your pal Arnii does and hurl a torrent of invective. Instead, his
responses have been measured and proportionate. This leaves your rage
unrequited, so you make up unsupportable accusations about him.
Sad, really.

Pardon me for living in a world where the truth exists independent of
your thoughts or perceptions, where facts are facts and when people say
things like
"he never resorts to gratuitous insults" it is taken as an expression
of a fact...not a preference. And as a declaration of a fact, and when
challenged, they are expected to provide proof of their assertion. Not
just run squealing and claim immunity as it was just their useless
opinion and should be ignored.

Not much point in having any debate with you as everything you can
possibly say is immune to challenge when anything and everything you
can say is ultimately just "your opinion".

I'm sure "George" is just as sincere as a psychopath can be. All is
well so long as dave never forgets who is Master and who is housepet.
Singh's troubles began when he made it clear he did not regard "George"
as his master. At that moment was the "Gregipus the Mommy ****er"
epithet first thrown.

Of course it's not a "preference", dimwit. It's an opinion.
You seem to be having a great deal of trouble with this concept. Or maybe
there's an unrelated reason why you plopped your flea-bitten self onto RAO.
I'm not the Argument Therapist. I don't believe inane arguments will

If you think I'm wrong, show me why. Can you follow that, or are you going
