Shown in the picture is one of those little power supply/power amp
chassis from an old 50s or 60s tube console such as sold at polk Bros.
or Woolworths: two output channels consisting of an EL84 and an output
transformer suited for a AA5 table radio,e.g. roughly the size of Ann
Coulter's or Hilary Clinton's distended clit.

Real market value was probably $5-WITH the little console it came
with.

Wow, I guess those trannies are real crap then, I thought they'd have
some value. Caps, wires, pots, chassis, tubes - all pretty worthless -
hey maybe those are ceramic sockets that could be a few bucks.

Amazing what a hyped up description will do, if he sold it with a rough
piece of walnut ready for cutting, sanding and finishing to use as a
base under the chassis he could have listed it for $150.

March 27th 05, 04:11 AM
NEW similar trannies are $5 apiece from Antique Electronic Supply. And
how much are 40 year old barbequed caps worth?

Fried Cap
March 27th 05, 04:15 AM
Ouch, that's $35 worth at best.

Actually, the real market value in this case was $100.

So, now we're quibbling over spending an extra $65 for a working amp,
with NOS tubes that might easily be worth that $35 alone, depending on
how they test?

One would think that the buyer spent $10,000 on a power amp or
something.

BTW, Cal should be rejoicing that this item didn't get parted out.

$95 then.

Are we really now complaining about spending an extra $95 for a
working two channel amplifier, regardless of how much it theoretically
might be worth?

Besides, if the tubes test strongly, then they are worth at least $35
by themselves.

The fact that people are judging someone harshly for spending a
hundred bucks for a working amp seems rather ludicrous, at least to
me.

Not me!

After you've spent hours drilling holes in steel, you think what your time
is worth. Paint the chassis black, wrap it in some wood, re-cap and strap
it triode-mode... might be a cool amp.

So it goes!

Since the invention of the electric and air hand drills and the drill
press, it's gotten to be fast.

Top- and crossposting?

Give him a piece of cardboard and a pair of scissors and he

I don't use any eq except under SoundForge, in this case the Eq curves are
stored with the waveform.

IMHO the concept of Eq template is simply stupid.

That's one of several reasons I don't use eq, but in this case a
manufacturer saw some advantage in giving away pieces of cardboard.

Go figure.

Actually, it's the simplest, easiest solution to the problem that
Howard (I demand an eq) Ferstler proposed.

Of course, if he wanted to pop for it, he could get one of the eqs
that has the ability to memorize curves and store them.

The french words are "loyal" and "loyauté" not my fault if
the mass media and tabloids from the Perfid Albion don't
know that.

Seems that these would refer to loyalty, a somewhat different concept,
but then I'm not much of a francophone. Perhaps of course Lionel
simply does not understand the concept of fair play? :-)

Why should I feel foolish ?

problem ? Because once again you have written for nothing ? Becuase once

I was only speaking about the Englishs.
You are right concerning the Scottishs, Canadians, Australians, guys from
New Zealand but English were notorious cowards ! :-D

Since you seem to be interested in war history I would like to put you a
question.
Is it because the Wehrmacht has given your army a swimming lesson in
Dunkerque 1940 that the RAF have bombed the German *civilian* population
killing 100s thousand of innocents in 1945 ?

I will give you a little lesson of French because with history this seems to
be one of your major lack. The exact French translation for "fair play" is
"à la loyale". This expression was use for sport, duel, and games in
general... So use in this context it is not a different concept, this
literally means "following the rules".

Sorry to destroy one of your prefered English legend. ;-)

Sluttie does commend Krooger's "command of logic" and "perspicacité de la
rhétorique". That should give you an idea of her general standards. Oh, and
she adores the vinified potable you Brits call "plonk".

No, it was because the Nazis bombed the English *civilian* population
in 1940-1944, killing countless thousands. OTOH, there is no
reasonable defence for Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Tokyo.

No need to bomb Paris of course, since they could simply stroll in and
enjoy the facilities.................

Not of course the same concept at all. As I suspected, a complete
mystery to the French.

Since we are on a historical bent, I don't seem to recall the rules of
the Rallye Monte Carlo including shovelling snow onto a dangerous
bend. This is what the French spectators did as the leading Porsche
911 arrived, causing it to crash out and allowing the Renault 5 to
take the lead........

In the UK, we help crashed cars back onto the road.

Tsk tsk, such ignorance from Hiddius. Only two countries refer to that

English "fair play" perhaps... :-(

In 1940 after Dunkerque London hasn't been occupied thanks to the sacrifice
of British and French soldiers but *mostly* thanks to the Channel.
*IMHO*, the British army was in total deroute and wouldn't have resisted 2
months to the Nazis' blitzkrieg... Like the Polish, Czech, Dutch,
Belgian... before.

In France, in 99% of the cases the expression "fair play" qualifies a
*sportive* behaviour and applies to sport.
I have given you the synoymous French expression which qualifies the same
sportive values. I cannot see any difference in concept nor in context...

But if you want to grant me a demonstration of your "fair play" in the
debating trade, please elaborate your point.

No excuse for my compatriots... Every contries have their dangerous

I'm sure you remember this event :
