Recommendations needed for Beyer mic repairs

I have a Beyer M66 that died a few months ago. The local agent tells me
that Beyer no longer supply parts for these mics so it cannot be repaired.
It seems a real waste to toss it if it, as it is still in excellent
condition (apart from the fact that it doesn't work, of course). I
obviously don't want to spend a fortune, but it would be great to have it
available as an option again.

I also have the internals of an M500 and was wondering if anyone could
suggest a cheap mic that I could use replacement for the body.

I don't know the M66. Is it a ribbon or dynamic?
If it is a ribbon, is the ribbon intact?

You can order the ball and handle from Sennheiser parts. Cheaper than a new
mike by a long shot, and you won't have to do any wacky engineering to fit it
in place.
