View Full Version : OK, let's start discussing audio
Shhhh! I'm Listening to Reason!
February 7th 08, 04:28 PM
The question is, what topics are "OK" to discuss?
Vinyl? No.
Turntables? No.
Cartridges or stylii? No.
Wire and cables? No.
Amplifiers? No.
Preamplifiers? No.
Tubes? No.
CD/DVD players? No.
Ready-made room treatments? No.
SACD/Blu-Ray, etc.? No.
Stereos costing more than a few hundred bucks? No.
Any audio review that does not include DBT? No.
All of these are "ripoffs" sanctioned and promoted by the EHEE (Evil
High-End Establishment, pronounced "Eeee-Heee"). These all represent
'solved' issues. There's no sense even discussing them! Discussing
them here simply wrecks this forum!
This leaves speakers and home-made room treatments. I move that this
forum be renamed "rec.audio.opinions-on-speakers.and.cheap-home-
made.audio.solutions" forthwith. Do I have a second?

"At least" Arny changing the title in his Usenet subscriptions will keep

Thus Jenn puts her approval on ****R's lies.

What lies, GOIA? In the past week I've asked you:
What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
What type of speakers do you like best (e.g. box, dipole, etc.)?
What vinyl you kept after claiming you'd sold it all?
What cartridges do you think sound best?
What are good turntables IYO?
The silence was deafening. I think you were probably too busy thinking
about little girls.

The reason for the mass exodus was the sort of bilge that Art, the Middiot

Do the regulars on RAT there have "fun" when you're around, GOIA? Do
you add to the discussions there or do you detract from them like you
do here? Or do people just generally ignore you?
What is your definition of "fun"?
(BTW, since I crossposted to RAT, does anybody have any pro/con
opinions or experience for homebrews using PP or PPP EL38, 6384, or
KT8C/CV1079 tubes? And also, any currently-available transformer
recommendations for them?)

You're an Arnii discussion. The available issues are whether you're in
love with the Krooborg, whether you voluntarily became its creature, and
whether you think Krooger is a good christian. Let me know which of those
issues you want and your choice of pro or con, and I'll pencil you in.

Sadly, there's no "only" about it. Whatever you say, Witless, you say over

Don't distract him. I've been asking GOIA some audio questions for a
few days now. He doesn't seem to be understanding them.
I'd really like to know what vinyl he's kept (and why), or if he
didn't keep any and sold it all like he said he did, why he said just
said he had some. Isn't that strange?
Say, does GOIA have 'integrity' IYO? I've never lied here, you see,
and I apparently don't have any 'integrity'. GOIA just got caught in a
bald-faced lie. Color me curious.

I have noticed a rather underwhelming outpouring of support for GOIA.
I suspect his name in the subject line was enough to keep all of his

For technical reasons? I'm pretty sure they'll be just fine for audio.

I have at least three dozen of each type on hand, so even if the 1625
(a 12v 807, isn't it?) was only .10 each it isn't a better value. I
even have some old Philips brown-base EL34s and some NOS Mullards.
I just want to make a couple of nice tube monoblocks.
Who's making the best trannies these days? I have a pair of military
UTC 6v 10a power trannies, so specifically I'm curious about currently-
made outputs.

Yep, that's how it looks. I wonder if he learned to 'think' like that in
church? He swallowed the "miracles" crapola whole, so he's probably
gullible enough for any dogma they toss at him.

Well, he was 'smart' enough to see a trap used by small children since
the beginning of time. Anybody would know that either way you answer a
question like "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" is no-win.
Everybody except 2pid, that is. Drill sergeants use the same tactic on
basic trainees, of course. They'll make a statement about somebody.
When the person disagrees, they'll say "Are you calling me a liar?"
"No, drill sergeant!" "Then what I said is true." "No, drill
sergeant!" and so on. It inevitably ends with lots of push-ups. :-)
I wonder if 2pid will ever realize that by answering "no" to my
question he did indeed confess to having oral sex with stray mongrels.
Answering "Yes" would have been an admission that he had in the past
but had stopped. He should not have misused his ellipses...again,
which compounded his error. A comma even might have saved him.
Omitting the "No..." entirely was his best bet. "I have never engaged
in that type of activity." would have certainly ended the matter
there.
But 2pid, with his infamous poor English skills, has instead chosen to
call me a "liar" after his confessing to having oral sex with stray
mongrels. Do I actually think that 2pid has oral sex with stray
mongrels? I'd sure hope not. But since he's chosen to admit it, who am
I to disagree?
BTW, have you seen 2pid's latest foray into the "confusing" world of
English with JA? LOL!
Neither 2pid nor GOIA can ever admit that they were wrong. They're
birds of a feather.

I'd love to see George's first post here. It's probably more about
disbelief than ridicule, as in "How does a retard like Krueger know

I've looked for yours, GOIA. It seems that you've gone through several
iterations of spellings of your name, for example. Why don't you post

your sanity slipped away from you.

The man, a BBC engineer with almost 40 years
experience and several papers published,
spoke in all sincerity, and, having realised what
a foul.mouthed, thoroughly unpleasant character
Mr K was, moved to a closed group to which
he (AK) is denied access.
The absence of this cultured and well-informed
man is a loss to any audio group. But, what does
that matter as long as Arny is "having fun" ?

But... but... GOIA is always saying that those groups are where the
'real men' go to have audio discussions. The knowledgeable ones like
him. (But then, for some odd reason, he is always seen here. I find
myself wondering why.)
How can it be that there's a closed audio group of professionals that
won't countenance him?

Since 2pid is such a prolific poster, I thought it would be worthwhile

Look, 2pid! Here is a point that we will come back to later in this
post! That little "(AK)" is quite an important addition when one is
trying to insure readers understand what is being said! Reread that
sentence after removing it and see if the reason why can penetrate
your incredibly thick skull!
I put the answer down below!**

Posting on newsgroups is, after all, a test of 'manhood'. Posting
messages that show a truly messy and confused 'mind' (like this one of
yours) shows pure undiluted stupidity.
> But if they ever achieve their objective, they change, as the
> true objective is pure self-amusement with ridicule.
OK, 2pid, here is some more help with English for you:
You should (before posting) determine who "they" are and be clear
about it in your message. "They" here could mean either the people who
"lack stamina" or the 'ridiculers'. It would be better to specify, as
in "But if these 'ridiculers' ever achieve their objective...". Your
post would still not make any sense, but at least we'd know who it
didn't make sense about.
I would *guess* your intent was for "they" to mean the 'ridiculers'.
Usually, however, "they" would refer to the subject in the preceding
sentence, and the subject in the preceding sentence was those who
"lack stamina".
As we've seen from you, if someone guesses the intent of your garbled
and nonsensical messages incorrectly, even though you may ridicule
them, it's their fault. They are, however, helpless to do anything but
guess. (See how that works? The words "their" or "they" do not refer
to you or your garbled message or your ridicule. They refer the the
subject in the previous sentence. The subject in that sentence is
someone who guesses the intent of your child-like and poorly-written
messages incorrectly.)
For further reference, please see:
http://www.arts.uottawa.ca/writcent/hypergrammar/subjpred.html
(I chose a Canadian site to be ironic. Even Canadians speak better
English than you do!)
LOL, ay?
**In Iain's sentence above, the subject was the BBC engineer. When
Iain used "he" later, Iain realized that, since "he" would refer to
the subject, he'd better clarify that he meant GOIA and not the BBC
engineer. Since Iain wrote so clearly, there was no chance of his
being misunderstood.

GOIA, have you ever heard of "three strikes. you're out"? You've been
banned from r.a.h-e. There is not one single reason to believe that
you have not been banned from other groups as well.
I'll bet a large majority would ban you from r.a.t and r.a.o and many,
many others if it was an option.

Is your "unconcern" why you demanded to know the names of the groups
that have proactively banned you?
The reality is, Iain, that the Krooborg is continually running from one
hotseat to the next. For the past week, he's been trying to inflame RAO
into a pitchforks-and-torches lynch mob. Before that, it was aus.hi.fi.
Before that, it was rec.audio.tech. The reason Krooger demanded to know
who had banned him is that he senses the possibility of creating rafts
of new enemies. A twisted paranoid nutjob like Arnii Krooborg can never
have enough enemies.

Most of the senior staff of the major record and
broadcasting companies are to be found amongst
the membership, plus musicians and artists, composers,
and many good engineering people. There are sections
for visual arts, music, recording arts, audio technology
etc etc, An exclusion list is to keep out persons just like
yourself. The members vote to bring in new
members, often from open groups like this one,
and they also vote to exclude undesirables. I
am sure those that voted "No" had an
overwhelming majority in your case, Arny:-))
Good fortune
