View Full Version : Are there any REAL audio groups anymore?

Sherman Webers

In the days of old (early Internet), I used to really enjoy these USENet
groups. Now they are such a dissapointment. I miss the days where we really
talked about audio instead of...well; it is just sad what is discussed here.

You mean how to qualify for the Usenet Morons Society? Yes, that's pretty
tame stuff compared to vacuuming pubic hairs out of circuit boards.

I just did a quick search for your wonderful posts... all zero of them.
Do you have anything to offer other than whining?

Why don't you start an actual thread about something that interests you?

Otherwise, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

Well don't post HERE then. It's all opinion and no audio (nearly).

There are several other audio groups with useful content.

I vehemently like tube amps and turntables if for no other reason than
it seems to **** GOIA and some others off to no end.

Unless they are properly broken. Then we like the sound, which is all
alike. It's like when I mike one of the many bands that don't pay me
to record them because I do it out of love. I break their amps too. I
do that out of love too and they don't pay me for that either too.

I use speaker cable that has braided solid-gold conducters which have
been hand-selected from hair plucked from the Heads of Angels. Not
everybody has access to cable like this, but I do because I know God
personally. It sounds Heavenly.

God gave me a really good deal on it too. But beware! There are
counterfeit cables made from look-alike conductors scrounged from the

What are you trying to insinuate? Everything of course all sound
"alike"! And if you start throwing audiophool gobbledyook at me, all
that "bass slam, pace, rythm, soundstage, imaging, depth, smearing ,
skin effect, strand interaction, warmth, bloomy, analytical, bass bloom,
analog-like, transparency" all that stuff will get into big trouble!

Sighted listening should be avoided at all costs! If you find yourself
looking at your amp, or CD player, or lamp wire when listening to music
the first thing to do is stop listening and match those levels! Also,
sighted eating, smelling, seeing, touching and for instance f.cking are
also prone to bias and should be level matched!

Yes, the villiage idiot(s) of audio dominate over here.

Shhhh! I'm Listening to Reason! 3,140
Middiot 2,770
Clyde Slick 1,740
Jenn 1,710

It is true that Arns isn't posting as much to RAO as he used to, but I
think that's because fewer and fewer people are willing to engage him in
'discussion'.

Did you notice his lame attempt to troll JA? No one bit, but I'm sure if

Does he do a Christmas special? Thankfully I've never experienced it,

Turdy inaugurated the seasonal version several years ago. It came on the
heels of his arrest and conviction for stalking and kiddie porn
trafficking. He got probation as part of the plea bargain, but he needed
somewhere to take out his frustration, so lucky us. ;-)

It is a good thing that you villiage idiots are bothering your betters less
frequently. Trouble is that your continual senseless chatter makes the
place look like a place where only stupid people post. That's the essence of

that's because in the early days of the internet, there were less
trolls, and the WWW. type groups with graphics, etc. were not
perfected yet- there only WAS Usenet email based groups

now the Usenet groups are a shallow, hollow shell of their former
self- and eventually will be axed altogether

all the groups needs to be moderated

Yep, so many of the NGs are just troll bait. It used to be much better.
Moderated groups are one option. RAHE is generally a pretty good place.
Arny's posting style is usually quite different there than it is here.

Is this one of your audio posts?

Did you know Arny was banned from posting there for years?

Interesting, given that it's pretty much an objectivist dominated
newsgroup.

Din't they? I feel ripped off now. You get what you pay for in
autopsies, just like in anything else in life.

Oh well. Some moron who called himself "Bwian" referred me to him.
Bwian lost his license too, due to criminal activities, so they had
that going for them, which is good.

I don't know for how long, but I knew that he was banned for some period
of time. The moderators told me that he's being watched very carefully.

Arny fixation is generally incurable, especially in gay people.

It is lovely to catch Jenn in two deceptions in one post.

(1) There are not moderators, and there haven't been for over a year. There
is a moderator.

(2) There are only about 6 people posting on RAHE with any frequency at all,
so of course all posters are watched very carefully.

Jenn sure does like to put on the airs, now doesn't she?

It wasn't told in confidence. It's told to anyone who wants to discuss
the issue.

Differently than you are curing yourself of your Shhh! fixation,
obviously.

And apparently Eeyore has his Tojo (the dreaded "greens"), so the

Of course not, for a couple of reasons:

1. He's on to you
2. He asks you hard questions that you cannot answer without looking
like an imbecile.

Oh, like the waterboarding one, concerning morality, and dozens of
others? Poor 2pid! Words just confuse him all to pieces!
