Hi,

I'm looking for a pair of decent floor standing speakers, preferably
in a light oak finish. Must produce deep, tight & well controlled
bass + crystal clear vocals. Willing to spend £500-£600 if need be
but would consider buying used in excellent condition. Anyone got any
advice?

I recall that Proac made some models finished in oak.
They can be found used, and were always very good speakers IMO.
I believe several regulars here own or used to own one of their
speakers, so maybe someone else can fill you in about specific models.

Did you consider having your desired speaker reveneered* ?

* is that a word? Sorry, I'm not an English native speaker. I meant
putting on new veneer finish.

NEAR 50me was available in light oak. Great sound, metal drivers.

Tannoy would be on my short list - a pair of S6 towers, either
NOS or used.(maybe a S8 tower if used)
