combining 8 tracks into 1 ?
Hi,
I have a guitar solo with 8 parts on 8 different tracks. I now want to combine the solo on 1 track. The problem is that when i cut and paste it puts the differnt parts to the start of the new track. Is there a way of copying the parts and pasting them at the correct time placement on the new track ? Cheers! THPG |

You could set it to snap to grid and you can have it set to put it to a sample level. Start reading because you have a simple thing to fix. |

Usually it's a simple as holding the ctrl or the alt key while dragging with the mouse in most DAW's. |

The program I'm using is cubase Maybe you don't need to cut and paste at all. Leave the tracks where they are, snip and mute the sections you don't want. Or mix the old-fashioned way in the Mixer. (Or draw in Volume or Mute data. Or a combination of all of those.) When it sounds right, perform a mixdown to a new track (which Cubase rather confusingly calls "Export Audio"). But if you prefer to cut-and-paste... Are you doing this with CTRL-C, CTRL-V (or the menu equivilents)? In this case, I think Cubase pastes to the play position. If it's at zero, that's where it will go. Or, if you are dragging segments around with the mouse, look at your Snap setting. You may want to turn this off. Though it would only cause snapping to the start of the track if you were dragging to a position very close to the start. If you want more specific Cubase advice, come over to alt.steinberg.cubase. |

Laurence, what part of the world do you live in? I'm just checking to
see if you are anywhere near where I end up. You never know when you might need someone that can run something for you:-) On Oct 27, 4:00 am, Laurence Payne NOSPAMlpayne1ATdsl.pipex.com wrote: On Sat, 27 Oct 2007 07:27:57 -0000, TheHulkPlaysGuitar wrote: I have a guitar solo with 8 parts on 8 different tracks. I can never find someone that really knows there stuff on cubase and second, you have to eat London cookint ;-) Everytime I hire someone to do tracks for me here something goes wrong in epic form. You need to teach some Yanks your tricks. |
