Superior condenser microphone for perfect recordings...
What is the best condenser microphone that you can recommend as an
addition to my recording studio? I want a *professional quality microphone that can capture mainly vocals and acoustic guitar, in a crisp, clean, warm, and loud manner. I would prefer that it cost under $5,000. Don't worry about style, I just want it to sound absolutely breathtaking. Thanks |

(omni, card, hyper, short or long shotgun) Add a Stedman or similar pop shield for vocal. You ought to be able to get a pair with one of each cap with your budget. rd |

It automatically corrects all pitch to correct pitch, adds a ton of warmth (some people like to turn the air conditioner down a little when they use it) and it sparkles the top end while fattening up the bottom. Be careful when you use it because it can cause shortness of breath and high cholestrial. Their made overseas but don't buy the import model. You can tell the ones made in the USA by the twist off top and lower alcohol levels. They usually go for about 2000 at guitar center but if you look hard you can spend more. |

Ignoring the fact that there are significant audible differences among
mics... It seems to me that what you want depends more on having the appropriate acoustic, and capturing it in the recording, than it does on having the "best" microphone. |

Don't worry about style, I just want it to sound absolutely breathtaking. Thanks The AKG C12VR,http://www.akg.com/site/products/pow...210,nodeid,2,_..., will do what you want. And it's only $4495 fromhttp://www.economik.com/index.php?pr=298. However, you may be able to find it at a more expensive price if you search diligently Don't let the naysayers of this thread discourage you. Just remember to turn the gain knob all the way to the right. The level indicator should alway be in the "red." Red is good Humorously said, Bob Morein (310) 237-6511 I thought that VR in the AKG stood for "Very Rotten". If you have five large to spend on a microphone, I would seriously look at a Neumann M149. It is very nice. Not suited for everything, but isn't going to sound like crap on anything. If this entire thread is a trolling expedition, then fololow the previous advice about keeping everything in the red. |

look at a Neumann M149. They're charging 5 large just to look at 'em these days - Dang! |
