Noisy Stereo Selector Knob
The knob that switches the output for my amp from Stereo to Reverse to
Mixed, etc. does not have full surface contact in its center detent position. The signal is noisy and scratchy and sometimes weak. But when I turn the knob ever so slightly so its off its center placement, the noise goes away, and as the knob ever so slowly returns to its default position, the noise comes back too. Its almost as if the switch is dirty at its core contact point. My question is, how do I clean the contacts short of taking the switch apart, which I'd rather not do? Is there some kind of spray that I can put? I've tried silicone spray but it didn't really do the job. How about WD-40 or sewing machine oil? Any suggestions short of removing the switch? Thanks for any help. |
