Default What is an inexpensive midi card that will work with XP?

What is an inexpensive midi card that will work with XP?

I have a midi keyboard that when I upgraded my computer, I didn't
realise that the new motherboard doesn't have a midi input. How much
are these cards and are there some that work with XP?

Any "modern" cheap sound card should work (although may require a
separate MIDI breakout cable).

I use one of these... USB connected, MIDI in and out ports right on it.

It's most unlikely the old motherboard did either! But perhaps you
had a SoundBlaster card installed.

If you're otherwised satisfied with the audio system of your computer,
you just need a simple MIDI interface. M-Audio, Edirol etc. They're
not expensive.

But for not much more money you could install a better sound card. The
standard entry-level product remains the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 pci
card. Line in, Line out, digital in/out, MIDI in/out. No frills, no
cheap-and-nasty microphone input, but it does what it does very well.

These days MIDI interface "cards" are usually combined with the sound
card, or are external, connecting through a USB port. I'm not sure if
M-Audio still makes the WinMan series any more, but if you can find a
used one, it'll probably only be a couple of bucks.

Check out the M-Audio Midisport 2x2
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_u...T2x2-main.html

it does MIDI i/o via USB box.

Works well and is cheap.

The older green coloured version shows up on ebay fairly often and is
even cheaper ;-)
