Question on testing track counts in DAWs

Does it make a difference if there is actual program being recorded when testing track counts in DAWs? Recording something like a 100 Hz sine wave makes it easier to hear tics and pops, the usual signs of running out of track capacity. However, from a stress standpoint, bits is bits. |
