Hi,
Recently I ve aquired decca gold label series DL 7 9407 Russell Oberlin Handel arias. I have a question concerning the label: Altough the cover states gold label steries the records has a maroon label. I never saw this label in de gold series. It has decca stereo in silver on top from 10 to 2 o'clock. It is a US pressing for sure (mentioned on the label). The cover of the record has in big letters on top in a yellow box "Full Stereo"and next to it a black square with a kind of Ying Yang sign (red/yellow) without the dots next to it. Under this is the fifties/early sixties square decca hifi logo box wich states'gold label series" The "Ying Yang" logo is als prominent on the label (perimeter six oçlock with the words High Fidelty left/right from it. Record also has a deep groove roughly a third from the outer edge of the label. I am pretty sure it an early pressing : both sides are first stampers (and less reliabl": previous owner wrote; purchased jan 1961 inside the cover) But style of label is consistent with cover art and advertizing on the back doesn't mention records with higer release numbers then 9407. Ïs anybody familiar with this label. Could it be a kind of early stereo design, later replaced by the familiar gold label.... Any help will be appreciated! Erwin |

Erwin All the early Stereo Decca's in my collection (mostly film music) have maroon labels with some silver lettering. I can't tell from your post, and forgive me if I've missed something, but you do understand that US Decca records are NOT the same company as British Decca (AKA "London" Records). |
