Yes, it can be fixed at home by someone with adequate knowledge.
Faultfinding is a logical process, so you first need to identify what the
problem is:-

1) Is it a powered subwoofer or a passive one. If passive, is there any
output coming from the amplifier driving it? You can tell by putting another
loudspeaker on the subwoofer amplifier and listening for signal. If a
powered (active) subwoofer, is the amplifier working? You need to check
mains power, fuses etc. Is there an "operation OK" light or anything that
tells you the power supply is on?

Assuming that a passive sub is getting amplifier signal and that an active
sub is getting mains power to the amp, you then need to to get inside the
unit to start making some measurements. First check any internal fuses. If
one has blown, replace it with a new one *of the same value and type* and
try using it again. Fuses don't always blow for a good reason, fuses "wear
out" due to repeated heating/cooling cycles so sometimes fail with normal
switch-on surges and the like. However, if the replacement fuse blows, then
you have a problem which needs fixing, and you should not put another fuse
in.

Frankly, unless you have some test equipment, (like an oscilloscope, audio
frequency meter, multimeter) and know how to use them, I wouldn't start
delving any further inside.

Good luck.

First thing I would think of would be a fuse somewhere. But more
information is required.

a) What sort of sub is this? The type where the amp goes into the sub,
then out to the satellites? Something else? Part of a surround-system?
b) Self-powered or amp powered?
c) Are the satellites/other channels still playing?
