Hi all. I just had a birthday (49 years old and NO, i DONT believe it!), and i
wanted to spend some birthday cash so i ordered the PS Audio duplex outlets from Audio Advisor. Anyone else experience them? -Bob Bernstein. |

The PS Audio outlet is a 20 amp, hospital grade outlet made by Hubbel. It also
has an isolated ground. If the outlet's line is a home run to the breaker box, it's a good choice, but if you have a good electrical supply house nearby, you can get pretty much the same thing for lower cost, except that the supply house's outlet is likely to be orange. Either way, it's a good outlet. From what I understand, the key to a hospital grade outlet is that it makes tight contact (good for audio), and is resistant to sparking when plugging and unplugging (eh) |

They are also more ruggedly built using better connector design and a
more compliant polymer that is quite difficult to break. If you have ever tried getting a 20 amp solid core wire into a cheap outlet, you know how fragile they can be. Most home wiring is daisy-chained by the way. It saves a load on wire cost and on junction boxes or breakers. - Bill www.uptownaudio.com Roanoke VA (540) 343-1250 "CCSman" wrote in message ... I have a licensed electrican came to my house to wire a dedicated 20amp
power outlet behind my stereo system, all the way to the main breaker box, using... Oopps, I don't even want to go into what kind of wire I'm using. But seriously, I hear no small "hmmm..." noise from my speakers while idle. The PS Audio outlets are good, not only they are hospital grade, but because of its brass (compare to the normal "dirty" copper) heavily coated with polished nickel and have a tight grip. I once look into the Furutech (US$80.00) and the Wattgate (US$180.00), I don't know how on earth they can sell that expensive, except they claim to use gold plated, but all you need to do is to apply a thin layer of ProGold on your PS Audio outlets or even the orange hospital grade outlet.
