I would very much like to hide away the amplifier and somehow have its
power controlled by the presence of a line-level signal (this is for a home system). In a car this is accomplished with the 'relay' line that switches the amps on when the head unit is turned on. I would like the same effect for my home system that switches on and off with the presence of a line-level signal and of course an adjustable delay before switching off. I don't have any 'switchable' plugs to plug the amp into. Any suggestions? thanks, Sean |

Without replacing the amps with units that offer a 12v trigger that
activates when you switch on the preamp via remote, you can plug the units into a power center device that has AC switching and sequencing. I think Monster makes them and Adcom used to if they don't any longer, but there should be quite a few choices from amongst the power strip makers. You just need to read the specs and pick the one that offers those features at a price that you like. As a bonus, you get the fault protection and a few extra outlets. - Bill www.uptownaudio.com Roanoke VA (540) 343-1250 "Sean" wrote in message news:J_XNb.70138$sv6.146001@attbi_s52... Xantech makes one although their 12V triggered outlet or a current sensing outlet may work better in your installation. The current sensing outlets activate one outlet (power amp) when a draw is measured on the other (pre amp) and were also available from Sears (they're a nice way to power up a dust collector when you turn on something else). Power centers are available to do these things for more money, but are redundant if you already have surge protection and conditioning. -- a href="http://www.poohsticks.org/drew/"Home Page/a Life is a terminal sexually transmitted disease. |
