Hey there,
I'm going to record a piano part for a rock style song, I have a reasonable range of studio mics available (AKG414 and C451B's, Neumann U87 and M147, Sennheiser KM84's, and Rode NT5's and various dynamic mics as well. Also have a range of preamps available - valve, class A etc. The piano part is equal in importance to the vocals and I want it to be very full, detailed, clear and upfront while having plenty of power in the loud sections. In particular, I'm wondering what the optimum number of mics to use should be, and that brings up the issue of phase cancellation, so what can I do to avoid phase cancellation between these mics? Regards, Matt |
