Home Studio Gear Options - Has anyone tried these?
I'm working on upgrading my home studio and for the longest time I
didn't really pay attention to the gear. I've been using the 002Rack connected to a Behringer MX1008 mixer. Why? Hehe, the 002 rack I used for recording and playback and I had all some non-important gear connected to the MX1008 just for playback. I was also using an Event TR5 pair of speakers but I've grown out of them already. Anyway, I'm getting a new pair of ADAM's A7s to replace the Event's. The 002 Rack was sold off last week, and I'm dumping the MX mixer out the window. I'm swearing off Behringer after I get my gear sorted, really. How do you usually mount your speakers? I had mine on my old teak desk all this while, that made the whole desk sound like a mini boom box. I was only working on effects beds for short 3D presentation work so it didn't really matter before. So, a good replacement for the 002R + MX would be either the M-Audio NVR10 which has a unique inline console type feature or the 003 Rack and suffer with no faders until I get MIDI controller at a later date. I quite used to working on Protools but that doesn't really matter. Anyone got any idea of the NVR10? How are its mic preamps? Most of my hobby work is acoustic guitar, vocal and electronic for the rest of the music or sound beds. Also, anyone got any cheap 2nd hand mics for sale? I'm looking for a large diaphragm condenser and a couple of pencil mics for instrument tracking. Anything will do really, as long as it works. Kev |

Can you tell WHY you dislike Behringer? I'm curious. Anyone else?

Kev Kev, I have the following: Two AT33r cardioids, in boxes with cal charts. Seems identical to the ATM33a, I can't see the difference: http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wi...ade/index.html Both for $100 Two Sony ECM260F cardioids, battery powered, XLR out. The business end looks similar to the AT: has cylindrical cage surrounding the capsule. Both for $50. Bob Morein Dresher, PA (215) 646-4894 |

Some people don't like them for the same reason they don't like any of the low-end gear. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

I think EVERY manufacturer looks at the competition and comes up with the same features the competitors do. Why would all mixers look the same? Or modern cars for that matter? Meindert |
