I have a 2 year old RCD-W500C and it has developed on odd problem. It
won't record anymore. It acts like it is recording. It thinks it is recording. But it isn't. I can record and finalize a disk but it won't play in the recording deck or in the CD-changer deck. If I eject it from the recorder and reinsert it, I am told it is blank. I am guessing this is a problem with the writing laser. Anyone have thoughts? |

If you try one of your failed discs in your PC's CD or DVD R/W, and pull up a disc status menu with your burning software, what does it say about the disc? If I eject it from the recorder and reinsert it, I am told it is blank. I am guessing this is a problem with the writing laser. Anyone have thoughts? Try different media? Try failed media on a different recorder, including your PC's CDRW? |

Of course I tried this. I cannot record on these in my PC because they are DA disks and my PC CD writer does not recognize them. However, finalized CD-RWs can be played just fine - but they cannot be erased in the deck. I also have several "virgin" disks that I tried - they all failed too. However, I have several CD- RW and CD-R DA disks that are fresh out their box and they do not work. I rather doubt it's a media problem. |
