When CDs were first produced they incorporated a certain amount of
pre-emphasis, and many CD players are able to detect such pre-emphasis and automatically "de-emphasize" such CDs so that linear response results. I do not remember the amount of pre-emphasis on these early CDs. Now it is my understanding that many newer CD players do NOT incorporate "de-emphasis" circuitry, and hence I wonder if the early "pre-emphasized" CDs might sound "over bright" when played on one of these newer "non de-emphasizing" CD players? I would be most grateful for any clarification regarding this matter. Thanks in advance. |
