Default Double the frequency of the playback of a .wav file

Hello

i've got a .wav file at 44100 hz, and i need it to play at 88200 hz so
that it plays twice faster and an octave higher. (my soundcard
supports 24 bit 96khz)

any idea of a mac software which would do this ? i really need the
file to stay intact, just played at 88200hz.

thanks

I don't use Mac, but a binary editor should work.

Presuming that Mac .wavs correspond to Win .wavs (and that Mac editors
correspond to Win editors!), at offset 18h (decimal 24) from the
beginning of the file you should see a '44' followed by an 'ac'. This
is a "little-endian" hexadecimal representation of 44100. To change
that file's bitrate to 88200Hz, the "44ac" would be changed to
"885801". From 44100Hz (ac44 hex)to 88200 (15888 hex). I'm being
tedious about hex because that's what binary editors use.

I use this method, successfully, to record 78rpm records at 33-1/3.

Good luck.

thanks everyone

i've managed to do the hex edit trick. but i've found 88200 hz is an
octave too much !
from 44100 to 88200 there are two octaves... so i need 66150.
i didn't manage to set a 24 bit 44 khz file to 66150 hz ... any help ?

i think 'Peak' could have done the job but my trial expired ...
logic pro also has a frequency change thing but it's set to
44100/48000/88200 so no luck ...

thanks

you're right ... there seems to be a bug then somewhere... couldn't
figure it out.
some files would play properly at 88200hz and have an octave, some
would play twice faster like at 1 764000hz ...
anyway i'll clear this up.

i'm experimenting with a revox A77 ...

thanks !
