Default Vista and audio gear/programs

Hello,

Thinking of upgrading the PC in a while...maybe. Or should I stick with XP
Pro 32? I would need a 64-bit system anyhow I presume, since all new CPUs
are 64bit.

Is there a resource or do you have any experience yourself about how do
audio cards/programs perform under Vista? Any preference for a certain Vista
version?

I'm thinking my trusty ol' Layla won't work in Vista, so at least need a new
soundcard, but how about Cubase, Wavelab, plugins, EZdrummer, MIDI
systems...any collective info on audio and Vista as of yet somewhere?

Thanks,
