If you have a computer dedicated only to music production (no web
surfing, desktop publishing, emailing, etc.), but you still need to get on line occasionally for software updates, how do you configure your system? The overhead of a proper internet connection with anti virus and firewall seems like something you'd want to avoid, but also something you can't live without. Do you simply forgo this protection, limit your web surfing and time connected, and hope for the best, or something else? With protection software disabled, but still appearing in the task bar, are there processes left behind that continue to eat cpu cycles or memory? -- Iain |
