Yeah, I got stung. However the asking price was not totally unrealistic
for a package of 3 units, so I gave it a shot. To their credit Ebay/PayPal accepted my dispute and came out in my favour, refunding the whole charge including freight, though requiring an onerous bunch of supporting documentation to be faxed to them. The weirdest thing was that checking out the Shure website for info on this situation, there seems no obvious info there warning of the scam, or info to help identify genuine versus fake mics. I will be posting a PDF of a sheet I have prepared to spot the differences. URL to be arranged. geoff |

I saw one about a week and a half ago that claimed to be a Shure 585. I went
to Shure's web site and couldnt find mention of a 585, so I passed on bidding. -- remove "spamtrap" in return address for replys. http://web.nccray.net/jshodges/mommasaid/sss.htm 20% of all sales goes to the local food pantry. Accepting any and all donations of pro audio equipment. Thanks so much to those who have responded. "Federico" wrote in message ... What fake Shure models are on eBay other then SM57 and SM 58? The 585s were early Unisphere models that predated the '58. There were high and low impedance versions and, as far as I know, used different Amphenol connectors for each either the coaxial type for high and a 2 pin type for low. The low Z version did not use a transformer. rd |

I have a 4 pin amphenol, at least that is what I recall it as being without checking, from the cable for one. The low Z version did not use a transformer. Can't comment, too long ago. rd Regards Peter Larsen |
