Default Bi-Wiring speakers

So, I'm trying to decide whether to bi-wire my speakers or not, and I start
doing some research on the 'net, and of course it's everything from "you
won't believe your ears" to "it's hokum to sell more speaker wire." I
decided, hey, the guys who make the speakers are putting some money into
their speakers to provide bi-wiring capability, why don't I ask them why
they do that? And my email to a famous speaker manufacturer that starts
with K and used to be based in Arkansas comes back with the following
response which I paraphrase:

Some people claim to hear a differerence, I don't. We put the dual posts
there because the other manufacturers did.

Well, that seems to settle that.

Yes. It's a waste of time.

About those claims that people hear a difference - two words: sighted
evaluation.

We put the dual posts there because the other manufacturers
did.

I don't know about one comment from a speaker manufacturer settling it, but
certainly the extant circuit analyses that quantify the difference biwiring
makes (vanishingly small) shed considerable light.

If you're going to use two lengths of speaker cable to hook up a speaker,
hooking them in parallel at both ends makes more sense.

Sounds about right. It's a small additional expense for a speaker
manufacturer to provide the jacks & jumpers for bi-wiring or passive
biamping. So, if it makes for even one more sale and all your peer
manufactures are doing it, of course you do it.

And to take it a step farther as a consumer, if you're sane about wire,
biwiring is only going to cost an addidional ten bucks or so.

Yes, it's a waste of time, but if done properly it's an inexpensive
waste of time. A benign eccentricity, if you will.
