Default home recording with sblive 5.1 ?

Hi. I have a creative SBlive 5.1 soundcard, and windows XP.

I'm trying to set it up for home multi track recording.

I have the mic plugged into a mixing desk, and my headphones plugged into
mixing desk for monitoring. I

I want to have the Tape Out of the mixing going into the Line Input of the
SBlive 5.1. But unfortunately, I can't seem to set up the controls on
Windows so that I can both play into the mic, and hear what I'm recording
at the same time.

Strangely, it works ok when I plug the mixing desk into
the Mic input on the card. But unfortunately I get some strange intermittent
crackling hissing noise when I do that for some reason.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

You know, you and the one other person in the whole damned world that's
trying to do that should get together. Why not go to the Creative Support
site, or maybe to the support site for your mixing desk? They're the ones
that might have the answers.

See this article from EQ magazine. It's exactly what you need:
