Default good amp for the kicker L7

ok heres the deal... im new to this car music thing so im askin some
of the oldtimers

i have a 96 mustang...
my first thought for the system was 2 kicker L5's and a profile clarus
1200 wat amp (600X2)

i was told that one kicker L7 would be more than plenty for my small
car and sound better than the 2 kicker L5's... well what they told me
to do was spend the extra money i was going to spend on that amp (its
like $230) and toss another 130 on it to take up the amp spending
money to 350ish... i was told to go with a kicker amp because there
the "best" but i find that they dont offer much wattage for the
price...

so Question #1 isn would i be better off with the origional setup idea
(2 kicker l5's and the 1200 wat amp), or the 1 kicker L7 and a better
amp
****the follow up question to this is what amp is gonna give me the
best sound and the loudest thump for the $350ish price tag if this one
sub idea is the best

second question is...with the kickers you have a choice of getting the
2 and 4 ohlm subs... why would i want one over the other... right now
im leaning towards the 2 ohlm subs because the amps put more power to
these but im unaware of any other differance (im sure there must be
one with the sound quality)

just for referance i listen to mostly rock, metal, and some trippy music
(pink floyd, jimi hendrix... stuff like that)... on very rare
occasions ill toss in rap

^figured u might wanna know that for the ohlm question i asked about
the subs

THANKS FOR HELPIN OUT A N00B
