Hey,
I have a mic rated 310 ohms and a preamp that goes from 150 - 3K ohms. should i match the impedance on the preamp to the mic? i've heard conflicting stories about that i should match it and that i should max out the preamp impedance. what do you guys think? i'm not an electrical engineer, so i don't konw. |

If you want to let your ears be your guide, just make an XLR adaptor composed of a male and female jack connected together, with a 300 ohm resistor connected between pins 2 and 3 inside one of the connectors. It could be as simple as a 3' XLR jumper with the resistor added. Parts cost under $10 and all parts available at Radio Shack. Plug it in, and listen. Plug it out and listen. |

This is good technical stuff, from the great unwashed, We should all be so-so grateful he bothers to contribute, You can't get info like this just anywhere We've all learned today, how to plug something in,, Then we have to master plugging it "out" . or is that a very precise way of saying unplug the thing. How fortunate we all are, NOT. He got confused the other week, got a new job as a " stop // Go " man, only trouble was the pressure got to him, and he said ''Go'' when he should have said "Stop", and some lucky **** run over the prick. bassett |
