Earlier this week there was a short thread on the supposed upcoming SACD.
Well I used the word supposed intentionally because according to discussion on Audio Asylum this news about the new upcoming format may be nothing more than a false rumor. |

The 1997 publication of SACD-A technical proposal by Sony and Philips clearly stated in the table of comparison between the conventional CD and SACD that SACD's enhanced capabilities include Text, Graphics and Video. Further the paper claimed that they have met the International Steering Committee's(ISC) wish list by meeting all the 13 requirements of ISC and one of them was the new format should able to store audio, video and data. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we witness a much superior video playback of SACD soon. |
