Default About real time noise reduction

I am getting lot of noise with my sound recording. It is probably a
problem with my sound card (I could narrow down up to that). Now, i
dont want to 'record' any thing. But when I use Gtalk voice, i am
getting lot of noise. Is there a nice way to get around this problem
instead of buying a new sound card.?

Thanks in advance

What kind of noise - hiss, hum or something else?
