Scott's right - it isn't too much of a stretch to visualise more than
three dimensions, or at least representations of them. Briane Greene
has perhaps been more instrumental than anybody else in providing
examples for the layperson, the garden hose description of the
Kaluza/Klein Theory in "The Elegant Universe" being a good place tpo
start.
