Boom Recorder 7.12 and 7.13
Two new versions released shortly after each other.
Version 7.12 has a new feature where you can see how large (number of samples) a timecode frame is, by clicking on the timecode field; clicking a second time will reveal the real sample rate compared to the timecode signal. It also contains a fix for a crash with empty metadata fields. Version 7.13 adds "full pre record at file close" this allows overlapping audio when you stop and start the audio in short succession. It includes a fix for the miscalculation of the "timestamp at end of the recording", when the pre record buffer is set to 0 seconds. More information can be found at: http://www.vosgames.nl/products/BoomRecorder/ Cheers, Take Vos |

Boom Recorder 7.12 and 7.13
I have been in the film and video business as a mixer and boom op and
just heard about this product. I have had some experience with Metacorder and someone just told me about Boom Recorder. Can anyone tell me there opinion between the two? I am thinking about investing in a software driven recorder for field work. Take Vos wrote: Two new versions released shortly after each other. Boom Recorder 7.12 and 7.13
Ginzo wrote: Can anyone tell me there opinion between the two? I am thinking about investing in a software driven recorder for field work I'm pretty new to Boomrecorder, but IMHO for the very reasonable price and even more so, for Take's unparalleled dedication to customer tech support, you can't go wrong. Just say yes and buy it! It has a very straightforward user interface. By far the hardest thing is configuring the hardware involved (for me anyway, but that's another story and not actually related to Boomrecorder). The specific hardware setup can vary significantly per user choice and requirements, but it can be quite simple too if you want to KIS. The software is almost too easy. Others' opinions I've gathered in my own pre-pruchase research suggest that if you're planning to use either day-in, day-out and need all the extra bells and whistles, Metacorder might be a better choice. OTOH, Take is working on Boomrecorder all the time with significant and welcome features being added regularly. I don't think the guy ever sleeps! I can hardly keep up with the update downloads. For my purposes, it's all I need for now and the near-term future. Plus it has allowed me to affordably test the waters of direct-to-computer recording. ..02 EB |

Boom Recorder 7.12 and 7.13
Hi,
Thanks for the info I think from what I saw on the website, I believe I am sold on it. You can try it out, before you make you decision, when you download it you automatically get a 30 day trial of the Pro version. The trial is fully functional so you will be able to try it out in production. Cheers, Take P.S. Although many think I do not sleep, I do want to refute the rumors of me being undead. |
