Default API 312 or 512 on rock/metal kick, snare and vocals

Have any users out there arrived at a consistent result or favorite? If
you hate API or have never used API please just ignore this post.

Just wondering solely about the preamps and not other options at this
point.

A lunch box with 4 512s or the 3124+mb.

Either pre will kick ass in your intended use. The packages are
different, and one of them is a mixer. Which one suits your setup?
Either will work fine.
