What about some ideas on a studio setup?
Hi everyone,
I just added some gadgets to my home studio. I'd like to know if the setting is right, and what could be done to improve my setup. First, I have my Perception 200 mike plugged in my Alto L8 mixer. I also have my ATM41HE mike right there. (The two of them are plugged XLR.) Then, the outputs are plugged in my art pro vla via XLR. The output of the provla are directly plugged in my Edirol DA Unit. (Linked to my comp) Then to my KRK monitors. Mikes ---- Mixer ---- Compressor --- DA unit ---- computer --- Monitors Now I know everything I plug in the mixer is compressed, but I have 8 inputs on my DA, so I can plug direct too. Problem is: I only have 2 XLR inputs on my DA, that sucks. But on my mixer, there is four. I've heard XLR cables are better, but I'm not sure about that. I often hear about TRS: Is every 1/4'' cables TRS? Thanks for the help! -------------- JBH Live for what you hear. |

I just read that maybe I should not put the mixer first in a line.
Reason is: I'd better be EQ'ing AFTER compression, right? Thanks anyway... |

EQing before compression lets the EQ'd sound determine the compression. EQing after compression might result in a mysterious characteristic of compression driven by sounds not emphasized. -- ~ Roy "If you notice the sound, it's wrong!" |

Ok, so you're telling me I was wrong right? =( So in a voice if I highten the volume, I'll get a blast of bass if I sing right? and a "light" voice if I dampen the bass and put gain on the treble if I understand. |
