It doesn't matter. Just keep the case temperatures below 180 DEGF or so and
you'll be OK.

As long as you're not stacking them on top of each other, I don't think it
matters.

Keep them free from scratches.

Same here. Something about the effects of the microscopic "sag" that would be
caused by storing them horizontally (in their jewel cases).

Personally, I don't think it matters...
