I've been a fan of Vandersteen speakers for many years. I've recommended them to several friends of mine. IMHO, they are well designed by a company with a lengthy track record, and their use of both time aligned speakers and relatively cabinet-free construction are features that I favor when considering speakers. I can't comment on the other components because I have not directly audtioned them. Of course, the important thing is not what anybody else thinks about your system, but what *you* think of it. If if gives you pleasure, both musically and emotionally, this is all that is necessary in my view. Now playing: Ry Cooder - Chicken Skin Music. Up next - B.B. King - Live at the Apollo. Bruce J. The answer to this question depends on consideration of several main variables: (1) the volume at which you normally listen to music, (2) the sensitivity of the speakers, and (3) the size of your listening room. Other factors you may also want to consider include the distance from the speakers at which you sit, and also the output of your source devices, whether they be a CD player, turntable/arm/cartridge combination or some other devices. Because of all the factors involved, the ideal way to answer your quetion would be to audition the speakers you're considering with your amplifier prior to purchase. If that is not possible, you should consider getting in touch with Vandersteen directly to help answer some of your questions. A friend of mine bought a pair of Vandersteen 2C's, upon my recommendation, through eBay from a local seller. Being totally unfamiliar with their products, he called Vandersteen to get some information and ended up speaking to Richard Vandersteen, himself, who apparently spent considerable time talking to my friend and answering his questions. To my way of thinking, that's the sign of a company that cares about its customers. The Vandersteen website is also fairly informative IMHO. "S888Wheel" wrote in message ... I listen to my music moderately loud, even though its usually jazz. I never
need to turn my amplifier's volume up past the half-way point, really, and it's a 30 watts/channel Luxman LX33 tube amp. I'm in the living room of a small apartment, with hardwood floors. I generally sit about 10 feet away from the speakers. I understand the 2C's benefit from biwiring. What is that? Can I do that with a conventional amp? This amp only has two pairs of inputs for speaker wire. "Bruce J. Richman" wrote in message ... Alon Wolman wrote: I love it!
