I understand what you're getting at.
If we were to give Middius the benefit of the doubt, we might assume his
intended analogy is thus:

1. Krueger slanders people who do not share his "audio ideology", with ad
homineum attacks.
2. Krueger identifies himself as a person who has achieved conventional
success.
3. Middius uses the argument against him, by stating, showing, or knowing
that Krueger has not achieved all the conventional forms of success, which
to the recipient is an ad homineum attack, because of Krueger's conventional
value system.

Whether this is Middius's thinking is open to conjecture. Middius doesn't
expose himself very much; he prefers to remain a cipher. That is his game.
He enjoys frustrating people, he's good at it, and I learned it was not
productive to try to circumvent his defenses.

However, it is enjoyable to watch you work at it .
