Default XM OR Sirius Digital Radio For Car. Opinions, Please ?

Hello:

Giving some thought to getting XM or Sirius digital radio for my car.
Not too sharp with this stuff.

Live in the Boston area.

Might someone offer any opinions on which is the "better" service
to get, please ?

Not really too sure what else to ask.
Other questions I should probably be asking ? Caveats, etc. ?

Would probably have to get the fm transmitter to use in the car, as
I don't have a tape cassette deck in it, and really don't want to change the
installed
radio.
How well do these work ?

Thanks,
Bob

The sound quality isn't quite as good as other sources, but the excellent
programming makes up for it. I'll probably never listen to regular radio again
for music. As far as which one to buy, take your pick...industry insiders are
saying one will probably buy out the other when it really takes off. FWIW, I
chose XM and I'm very happy with it.

Can't say on the receivers, but the signal being processed by Sirius was
considered inferior in the only review I ever saw that did a heads up
comparison between the 2 systems. Sirius said they would be working up a
new decoding system or algorithm or something, I don't recall the details.
It was sometime back in Stereo Review's Sound & Vision, perhaps you can find
the details at their website.

I have had both. XM's audio is better. Sirius has better political and
sports coverage. XM will buy Sirius anyway, because they are way
bigger and have more money, but also because XM Rock and XM Roll, the
orbital broadcast satellites, have serious technical issues which will
end their lives prematurely.

With the current death of the Shuttle, the possible fixes include:

1. Replace the satellites with new ones.

2. Build a spacecraft, go up there, and fix them.

3. Buy out the competition and use his RF back end with your
encryption/encoding.

One of these is overwhelmingly less expensive. Can you guess which
one?
