Hi Arny,

Hi Arny,

I wanted to borrow some of your knowledge/experience. I'm looking at
some proamp options for a multiamped hometheater system. One of the
amps I will require is for a set of 72" ribbons that measure cleanly

Arny's experience with amplifiers is not comprehensive.
He seems to be unaware of the qualitative differences between typical sound
reinforcement amps, and the best of the professional offerings.

IMHO, the Sampson is not a revealing amp, and would deprive you of much of
what you obviously expect ribbons to do, which is to deliver an extremely
high level of treble definition. The Sampson sounds muddy.

I suggest you open this discussion up to the other knowledgeable individuals
on this group.

I submit for your consideration:
the Hafler Transnova series
the Hafler XL series (older, available used)
Crown
Parasound
B&K

A ribbon system is so revealing that you may find considerable difference
in the presentation of each amp.

Although I realize Arny's perspective is not shared by all, I do
believe he has something to contribute and would also like to read his
take.

I don't consider RAO to be an appropriate venue for serious audio discussion
at this time. Too many jerk-offs who hate music and audio. You can find me
over on rec.audio.tech and rec.audio.pro.

Yes, you've really been effective in your agenda in trashing audio
discussions around these parts. I guess you should feel proud, eh?

I took a look over at r.a.p. and it looks like you've introduced your
urinary analogies there as well. It won't be long before they start
hearing about "garbage on the lawn" and the like.

Let's talk about your last 10 *audio posts* Weil. How many years back do we
have to go to find all 10 of them?

Hint: This isn't one of them.

I guess you should feel proud, eh?

Pride isn't a very strongly operative motivator in my life. Service is.

I took a look over at r.a.p. and it looks like you've introduced your
urinary analogies there as well.

How many times have you personally used the word "****" or "****" either
written or spoken in the last week, Weil? How many times have you used
illegal drugs?

It won't be long before they start hearing about "garbage on the lawn"

and the like.

I didn't know that you, Phillips or Middius intended to start posting there,
Weil. Why don't you try it a few times? I think it would be fun to watch.

Less than a year.

Hint: This isn't one of them.

Really? Damn, can't put *anything* past you, can we?

I guess you should feel proud, eh?

Pride isn't a very strongly operative motivator in my life. Service is.

Considering the job that you've done to this newsgroup, I have to
wonder what kind of 'service" you're talking about.

I took a look over at r.a.p. and it looks like you've introduced your
urinary analogies there as well.

How many times have you personally used the word "****" or "****" either
written or spoken in the last week, Weil?

On r.a.p.? Not once.

On r.a.o., not once.

Written *anywhere*, not once.

Spoken, "****", not once. "****", probably a couple of times.

Wasn't it *you* who used to pretend to be holier-than-thou and insert
asterisks in such words? I guess that *that's* out the window.

Note that it was *you* who introduced both words to this discussion.

So, with the indicated words, it's Arnold 2 - weil 0. and yes, I had
to use the words to indicate usage, as requested by you. Of course,
you have already used the word "****" already this week, haven't you?

How many times have you used
illegal drugs?

Irrelevant question noted.

This *is *exactly* the sort of tactics and hectoring that I'm talking
about. It's the old "beating your wife/look over there, cake" thing.

It won't be long before they start hearing about "garbage on the lawn"

and the like.

I didn't know that you, Phillips or Middius intended to start posting there,
Weil. Why don't you try it a few times? I think it would be fun to watch.

If I ever have a need to, you can be sure that I will. And it will be
funny to watch you jump me like a mugger over there as well.

RAHE is first and foremost a waste of time for rational human beings just
like RAO, because golden ears like sockpuppet wheel are allowed to dominate
the place. I was way too effective at ummm clarifying things to keep the
game going the way the moderators wanted it to. No great loss either way!

Thank you sockpuppet Krooger for admitting you can't follow simple
buidelines.

I've never followed a buidline in my life. Do tell us about your
experiences, Slimer.

No one wants to "find" you, Kroo****. We all just would prefer you just
scram from here, wherever you go.

Robert,

Have you, or do you know of anyone that has measured the distortion of a
ribbon tweeter at say 10 watts of power across it's intented frequency range?
