Anybody have experience with the latest Rode NT2-A's or the Rode NT5's for
recording grand piano. I plan (probably) to use XY, but may also try ORTF or even spaced Omni/Cardiod's since I've only recorded one quick take in this space before. This will be a classical recording in a good room. If you have done this, please let me know how you felt about the results, and what else you have used that you would consider comparable. Thanks. |

Everybody who has used a NT4 has in effect used a pair of NT5s. The NT4 is a good all-around mic, suffering mostly from being bulky, heavy, and ugly. I'd use a NT4 to record a piano (preferably with a couple of spot mics to provide more options for the mix-down), in a heartbeat. |
