not directly a question about recording, but i am looking for advice.
could anyone tell me anything about their personal shopping experience
with sonic sence inc. in denver? i am going to order lunatec v3 preamp
from them, unless you have any bad experience with their
shop. please let me know -- are they a reliable source?

I highly recommend them! They have been nothing but fantastic for me,
going well out their way to make me happy, including the purchase of the
same thing you are looking at. Mark, who founded the company, is
dedicated to audio not just as a business, but as a passion and his
positive attitude is shared by everyone who works there.

PS The Grace is very nice as well. They are a company local to me here
in Boulder, CO and not only build excellent gear, but have very good
customer service. They really do pay attention! (and Eben is a hell of a
guitar player).

I'll add my $0.02 here as well. Marc and Mojan are wonderful folks to deal
with. I bought a used HHb Portadat from them years ago and just got a Sound
Devices 722 earlier this month and they are outstanding folks to deal with.
