Interesting new recordings
Laurence Juber: One Wing
ASTOUNDING fingerstyle guitarist plays McCartney tunes. Fabulous sound, but the playing is the thing. Frederick Fennell/Eastman Wind Ensemble: Wagner for Band Repressing by SpeakersCorner Records. Jaw-dropping playing and sound. This is the fourth re-release of this great LP that I have, and this is the best sound. Check out "Elsa's Procession" The Bach Cantata series by Gardiner/English Baroque Soloists. Excellent CD sound and classy packaging. This fine ensemble is making it's way through all of the Cantatas. |

The Bach Cantata series by Gardiner/English Baroque Soloists. Excellent CD sound and classy packaging. This fine ensemble is making it's way through all of the Cantatas. There are DVDs, too. Some cantatas benefit by being seen performed in the original spaces, as when a soloist literally preaches from the pulpit or ambo of Bach's church. Stephen |

LOL Yeah, that's pretty much it. There is a big temptation (best fought) to do that. I love this work every time I do it. The Bach Cantata series by Gardiner/English Baroque Soloists. Here's one of those research coincidences: I was searching for the Taruskin article, "Facing Up, Finally, to Bach's Dark Vision" (NYT) because of its special way of looking at the cantatas and this website came up (http://www.fastnbulbous.com/metal.htm), which opens with a reference to Taruskin and the Judas Priest case.
