There's no reason why it shouldn't work. the salesman toldme that I need a passive mixer to connect the cd player to the amp to achieve the full power of the amplifer.otherwise the imput signal would be too low... is he mad? Definitely mad. The amplifier spec sheet says the input sensitivity is 0.775V RMS, and that usually means the minimum input level for full power. If he had said an active mixer and told you that the inputs to the amplifier were balanced and the outputs of your CD player are unbalanced (are they?) I'd say he was a little off, thinking that you might need some more level in to get full power out. But a passive mixer has no gain, so there's no reason to use on unless you want to mix another source with your CD. |

the amp I want to be sure that will work well. I have a cd player with 2V RMS at 470ohm this is the amplifier I'm going to buy: http://flankenlauf.cfmx.de/db-techno...IFIER%20E2.pdf it's the db technologies MT530 Is it going to be ok the connection? the salesman toldme that I need a passive mixer to connect the cd player to the amp to achieve the full power of the amplifer.otherwise the imput signal would be too low... is he mad? thank you very much |

Yes of course it is. Do you think ppl design stuff not to be compatible these days ? the salesman toldme that I need a passive mixer to connect the cd player to the amp to achieve the full power of the amplifer.otherwise the imput signal would be too low... is he mad? Yes he is. Like most 'hi-fi' ppl he has no real grasp of reality. In fact your CD player has an output that is very slightly higher than the amplifier requires ( exactly the *reverse* of what Mr Idiot Hi-Fi Shop said ). You simply avoid using the amplifier at maximum to avoid distortion. Btw - audio gear *does not* need 'matched impedances' to work well. Just another foolish myth from the past that idiot clown audiophools repeat. Ideally, outputs should be low(ish) impedance and inputs should be medium to high impedance. Which is exactly what this gear does. In short, your choice is fine and it doesn't require any 'holy water' to make it work optimally. Graham |

Yes. The input sensitivity is quite clearly stated in the linked page to be 0.775V. If the CD player can put out 2V that's more than enough - no problem as you can turn the level down. But there's another inconvenience: the amp has separate L and R controls. Unless your CD player also have a volume control you'll have to adjust the L and R controls on the amplifier in parallel to adjust your listening level. Not a problem if you don't mind that... -- Anahata -+- http://www.treewind.co.uk Home: 01638 720444 Mob: 07976 263827 |

I forgot to mention it doesn't need any 'magic cables' either ( or Shakti Stones ) to work just fine as intended, so don't buy any overpriced lunatic cables ( Monster etc ) that Mr Hi-Fi Shop offers either. Graham I bought a cheap £24.99 DVD player from Comet a while ago, and the salesman insisted that I really needed a special Monster brand scart cable to get the best out of the player. The price of the scart cable?... £89.99! Ron(UK) |

![]() If he had said an active mixer and told you that the inputs to the amplifier were balanced and the outputs of your CD player are unbalanced (are they?) yes it's unbalanced I forgot to mention it doesn't need any 'magic cables' either ( or Shakti Stones ) to work I already built a semi balanced cable RCA-XLR, with one end of the shield disconnected. I used what I had at home, just a good microphone cable with 2 conductor and the shield... I think it will be very good But there's another inconvenience: the amp has separate L and R controls. I don't have the volume control on the cd but there's no problem and also no tone (bass/treble) controls that most people like to have I never use it. I like the sound the way it is. I need this amplifier because I want to make loud party, so you know you have to go to pro amps. Because I found that also expensive amplifier with a lot of watts after the half way they sound distorted and without control. |
