Default Akai GX 747 DBX reel to reel motor buzzing noise

Hi all,

My beloved gx 747 reel to reel started having a buzzing noise over
past couple of mo, that I hear in the headphones, both in play and
recording, regardless if it is connected to any other gear.

It is definitely caused by one of the motors (when I fast forward,
buzzes slowly at first, then picks up when the reels pick up speed)

Any suggestions / fix ?

Thanks,

Mike

I think this is a 3-motor deck. Find out which motor it is. Run the machine
unthreaded and hold the reel motors... see if it is a reel motor or the
capstan motor. Then look for bad grounds, loose ground connections, and
if it's the capstan motor check the starting cap.
