Hi,
I recently purchased a set of Infinity 6.1 - 6.5" component speakers. I planned to fit them in the front doors of my Mk3 Astra. I purchased a special mounting kit to allow for the fact that the speakers are so deep but when I tried to fit the speakers they still needed another 2cm of clearance as they foul the bottom of the window glass guide. Does anyone have any experience of this? I'm wondering if the mounting kit I've got is just too shallow? Thoughts appreciated. Cheers, Edd |

![]() is there a factory grill over the spot? How much more room do you have before the front of the speaker hits the grill? if it's enough room, make yourself some new mounting rings out of wood to put in there that would push the speaker out enough. -- KU40 |

At full excursion the speaker clears the door card by about 3MM and the magnet is about 1/4" from the window edge when down. Here's the rings on my rednek drying station ![]() http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...t=HPIM1956.jpg Chad |

![]() haha, nice. I made some exactly the same for my doors, but only a single 3/4" layer thick. But I had the luxury of not having a factory grill to worry about since my car didn't come with speaker locations in the doors, just had to build it out enough to clear the window. -- KU40 |

It took me FOREVER to get the first one right, the second was a snap, typical ![]() Curvy Door card/grille: http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...t=HPIM1989.jpg Chad |

This, at times requires mild cuting and the use of spacer rings. My stock speakers will still go back in if I wanted, I still could fit a lanzer in there too. But I won't, I like my Seas' ![]() LOL Chad |

Chad, KU40, many thanks for the tips and pics. I'll be building some
nice MDF rings this weekend, should do the job just fine. Many thanks, guys. Edd Oh and before I forget... Bob Wald, you are a turd, you have always been a turd and you will most likely continue to always be a turd... |
