Hi,
I have been getting more and more into recording the guitar ith the help of this group (so far have got a senn. e906 mic, behringer tube ultragain, audiophile 24/96 and fruity loops with some effects) and I was wandering about the benefit of a proper set of monitor speakers for trying to achieve a good mix (stuck straight on the back of the audiophile 24/96). Its mostly just for home projects. So far I have been listening by routing the output of my audiophile 24/96 through the line in of my second soundcard (generic soundblaster audigy ZS) and out through a creative gigaworks system. My biggest impression of the sound from that it added a fairly high amount of bass. If they are worthwhile addition to a mini home studio, could anyone recommend a decent pair of monitor speakers for 100-200 pounds (UK) or reccomend some decent brands or brands to stay away from? Seen about 'active' and 'passive' speakers, guessing active have an in-built volume control which could be useful, but wandering as they are on the cheaper range whether I'd get better a better audio quality from a basic passive pair of the same price (i.e. cheap preamp colouring sound). Looked at some and these sprung up Behringer B2030A Truths http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=12166 Tannoy Reveal 66 - http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=67483 Alesis M1 Active MK2 (pair) http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/s...roduct_id/2626 M-Audio_BX5A - http://www.gear4music.com/Studio_Mon...ors,_Pair.html but there are alot of brands I dont recognise. Also would 200ish pounds get an descent-ish pair of monitor speakers? Any help would be most appreciated!! Thanks. |
