Hey, it has been months since I last posted, and for good
reason: I am busy doing interesting and productive things
and I also realize that corresponding with most members of
this group is a waste of time.

Incidentally, I am happily retired (well, semi-retired) from
the audio-journalism business, and glad to be done with it.
I am still interested in audio (have made some upgrades to
both my audio and video gear lately) and realize more than
ever that it is easy to get really good sound without
spending gobs of money. Some of you nitwits will never
realize this, of course. Mercifully, for the nitwit
contingent ignorance is often bliss.

Unfortunately, as one who is now viewing the situation from
the outside, I can say that the hobby is a mess. One reason
it is a mess (economic and obvious con-artist issues aside)
is because of people like you. Well, at least in part
because of most of you.

Yep, most of you need to both get smart and get a life. I'll
check back way into the future to see if this happens at
least in a few cases. I have little hope, however.

I am happily ... more than ... a ... nitwit.

I [am] a mess.

I have little hope, however.

So you're telling us that, basically, you're still just waiting for the
end?

Don't paint with such a broad brush Howard.

As you can tell... as an audio forum this group isn't particularly
active.
A couple new loons drop in every once in a while
but even their bizaare audio perspective was quickly
dumped for the silly debates.
Moreins become a magnet for these nuts as he just can't
leave 'em alone... and its already making him a pariah in some
of the pro groups. Aren't you buddies of his?
Maybe you can talk some sense into him.

Yup...me too. A new cart and some rear wave diffusers
like Soundlabs Sallies.
I'm still tweaking the system to get this cart to sound
right... its incredibly detailed and quite a change from my old one.

So what's your latest upgrades?

and realize more than
ever that it is easy to get really good sound

The difference between really good vs superb sound is
very subjective and a moving target IMO.
I thought my system sounded really good before
my latest changes but its getting even better
for my quiet listening preferences.

without

FWIW... I don't recall anyone bragging about spending
lots of money on anything around here.
It would actually be a nice change of pace to hear
about an equipment acquisition. Last one I can
think of was Jenns TT and she actually thought
the less expensive one was the better sounding to her
ears.

Howard... you need to study the serenity prayer.

Why bother? You think you can get a little satisfaction
thinking your life isn't the worst one on the planet?

Pop back and tell us about your upgrades or don't bother.
As you've noted, there are enough losers here, why
act like one more?

Yes, you should be building horn speakers and tube amplifiers instead.

Howard, I think you misjudge some people here. They know *better*. The name
of the *game* is to coax others into spending excessive amounts of money.
They like the feeling of power this gives them. Remember, this is Usenet,
