Default Flashing "ANALOG 1-2" lights on PT 888/24 I/O?

Hi y'all!
I've encountered a new problem with my ProTools set-up. (If it
ain't one thing it's the next.... :) I'm getting no audio into
ProTools from my second 888/24 I/O, and the word "ANALOG" is flashing
beneath the meters for chs 1 & 2. Actually, it's dimming, pulsing from
dim green to the normal bright green. The first 888 is working fine,
and the second 888, (I'll call this "888-B"), worked fine recently;
I've never had any problems with either for years.
888-B is seeing audio on all its meters, so the A/D is probably
fine, but the audio is not getting to the ProTools channels to which
it's been assigned, with all channels in "Record". Chs 1-8 from 888-A
are working fine, and set up exactly the same way.
I'm trying to dump audio from 2" tape striped with SMPTE, the USD
is locking fine, but I must have something set up wrong. The USD's
"Clock Reference" is set to "Internal/VSO". The "Positional Reference"
is "LTC". Digital clock on both 888s is "SLAVED" to the USD, the Word
Clock cable is attached from 888-A to 888-B, and all lights are solid
except for that pulsing "ANALOG" on 888-B. It's obviously indicating
that something is unhappy, but I can't find anything in the manuals
saying what exactly this is signaling.
But I figured somebody here on r.a.p. must know. I'm sure it's
just a simple click away. HELP!
Thanks in advance, as always!
Cheers, Rick.
