What's your recording card? A possible solution is to monitor through
the recording card either into an external mixer or headphone amp or
into your original sound card. On my stereo LynxOne card there are
settings that control what you are monitoring and whether you want to
monitor through the analog out or the digital out of the LynxOne. I
keep the analog out patched into the analog in or the original card.
Works fine.
